Success Stories

Designing the Architectural Foundations to Enable ERP Transformation

The Challenge

The Department was in need of a Future State Architecture to support their ERP transformation initiative, aimed to address ageing SAP ECC6 systems through strategic migration to SAP S/4HANA.

Legacy platforms, compressed timeframes, initial project delays, and the need for alignment across many departmental and portfolio stakeholders constrained the program. The program required detailed and scalable future-state architectures that considered integration risk mitigation and adherence to security standards.

ConceptSix was engaged to design the future-state architecture and supporting artefacts required to guide the Department’s ERP transformation and decision making, and prepare for a phased migration to SAP S/4HANA.

The Solution

Developed detailed architecture documents grounded in TOGAF and SAP enterprise architecture frameworks.

Leveraged existing artefacts from GovERP and the Department to fast-track solution development from high-level conceptual design to integration planning.

Scoped, analysed and reported on the current and target state of the Departments SAP landscape.

Mapped a tranche-based system upgrade to SAP S/4HANA alongside cloud-based products from other vendors – to better help serve the Departments corporate enabling capabilities and the wider managed service portfolio.

The Impact

A full suite of architecture artefacts across business, application, integration, data, user experience and security domains was communicated, aligned to the Department’s ERP transformation agenda.

Equipped with these artefacts, the business case for the SAP S/4 HANA technical rollout and migration was properly informed and successfully developed.
